Valero Energy’s Renewable Diesel segment reports operating income of $84m in Q4
In Texas, Valero Energy Corporation reported that its Renewable Diesel segment, which consists of the Diamond Green Diesel joint venture (DGD), reported $84 million of operating income for the fourth quarter of 2023, compared to $261 million for the fourth quarter of 2022. Segment sales volumes averaged 3.8 million gallons per day in the fourth quarter of 2023, which was 1.3 million gallons per day higher than the fourth quarter of 2022. The higher sales volumes were due to the impact of additional volumes from the DGD Port Arthur plant, which started up in the fourth quarter of 2022. Operating income was lower than the fourth quarter of 2022 due to lower renewable diesel margin in the fourth quarter of 2023. Meanwhile, the ethanol segment reported $190 million of operating income for the fourth quarter of 2023, compared to $7 million for the fourth quarter of 2022.
