TIPA introduces rice paddy waste takeaway containers as UK plastics bans progress

In the United Kingdom, packaging firm TIPA has launched a new takeaway tray made from rice waste that can either be composted or recycled along with paper.

The breakthrough material was included with TIPA’s acquisition of Bio4Pack earlier this year and comes to market just as Wales joins England and Scotland in a ban on polystyrene take-out food containers.

“The new paddy straw tray gives incomes to farmers for agricultural waste, boosting the economy in communities who need it the most,” said Daphna Nissenbaum, TIPA’s CEO and Co-Founder. “Our new packaging gives brands surety by avoiding plastic packaging bans whilst being ethically resourced and sustainable.”

The containers are available in the UK, Europe, US, and Australia.
