Thailand’s Goodnature orange-leaf packaging benefits earth and local artisans

In Thailand, a company called Goodnature has developed a cradle-to-cradle packaging solution for oranges that is made from the orange groves’ fallen leaves. The packaging pattern is influenced by the architecture of ant nets and production of the orange bags  provides jobs for handmade artisans of Fang, a town in northern Thailand. 

The material also decomposes naturally, becoming a fertilizer that boosts nutrients in the soil and supports new plant growth. According to Yanko Design, the concept also eliminates the need for polyurethane and plastic, which are traditionally used to package produce.
