Texas Association of Business says Texas is ideally positioned to lead on green hydrogen
In the UK, WindPower Monthly reported that Texas can have a leading position in terms of hydrogen production in the United States, according to Glenn Hamer, chief executive of the Texas Association of Business. He said the Texas should make green hydrogen producers “feel at home” in order to secure this leading position. The executive also highlighted plans by AES Corporation and Air Products to invest $4 billion in a new green hydrogen production facility in Wilbarger County. The plant, which could begin commercial operations in 2027, “will generate a half-billion dollars in revenue for the state,” Hamer said. The report also noted that Texas is uniquely positioned to capitalize on green hydrogen because the state already produces more wind energy than any other state in the US and has the potential to generate large amounts of solar power.
