Sustainable Aviation Fuel

Many countries are now active with Sustainable Aviation Fuel — but how much where, and when, and what?

The bulk of activity continues to come from the US — however, the EU has been gaining momentum, and Asia of late has been highly active.

Several technologies have been in the news. What we might now call “traditional” HEFA fuels made from vegetable and waste oils. More so now than ever, attention is going to ATJ fuels made by upgrading ethanol into a hydrocarbon. New technologies have been getting much attention, including jet fuel from volatile fatty acids (VFAs) as Alder Fuels have been working on, and jet and other heavy-duty fuels from methane, which T2C has found an affordable pathway for.
