Mississippi bans cultivated meat
Mississippi has become the third US state to ban lab-grown meat, following similar bans by Florida and Alabama. The law, which will go into effect this summer, was passed unanimously by both the state’s House of Representatives and Senate. According to vegconomist, Governor Tate Reeves declined to sign the bill. However, Association for Meat, Poultry, and Seafood Innovation executive direct Suzi Gerber called the bill “political theater.” Nebraska and South Dakota are attempting similar bans.
