Indonesia investing $1.16B in ethanol to support B50 plans

In Indonesia, the Indonesian Business Post reports that for the country to reach its B50 ambitions in 2026, it will need 2.3 million metric tons of ethanol compared to just the 300,000 tons that is produced domestically. To try to reduce the level of imports required and boost the domestic production, the government is looking to set up a $1.16 billion national strategic project for ethanol in Bojonegoro that can then be used to produce biodiesel. Reaching B50 will require nearly 18 million tons of palm oil and an additional 2.3 million hectares under palm.
