General Motors to open five EV charging stations in Houston, East Texas by end of year

In Texas, Houston Chronicle reported that General Motors and Pilot Co. plan to open four electric vehicle charging stations in the Houston area and one in east Texas by the end of the year as part of an initiative to build a coast-to-coast fast-charging network. “These new charging locations and the many more to come will be critical for improving range confidence,” Adam Wright, CEO of Pilot Co., said. The DC chargers at the new stations are compatible for EVs with a combined charging system, the standard used by nearly every EV automaker other than Tesla, Pilot representative Caleb Hoover said. However, drivers of EVs with a North American Charging Standard, the system used by Tesla, can use the network via an adapter, he said. The five Texas locations are part of the partnership’s initial rollout of 17 charging stations in 13 states, according to the companies. EVgo, an EV fast-charging network, will supply the chargers, though Pilot will own all equipment and set pricing, Hoover added.
