DEMCO, NextEra break ground on Amite Solar Energy Center

In Louisiana, WVLA Baton Rouge reported that Amite Solar Energy Center broke ground on a new multi-million dollar project in Louisiana. DEMCO and NextEra Energy have partnered to build panels that can generate up to 100 megawatts of solar energy, according to the report. Karl Kremser with NextEra said this project will lower electricity rates by 10 to 15%. “Our country as a whole and historically we have been highly dependent on oil and gas resources. So it’s just a transition, whether it’s solar, wind, batteries, they all have different purposes,” said Kremser. This project is expected to be completed by the spring of 2025, according to the report.
