AAL Dubai joins the fleet, methanol-ready and heavy-lift capable
In China, Offshore Energy reports Singapore’s AAL Shipping named the 32,000 dwt methanol-ready dual-fuel vessel AAL Dubai at CSSC Huangpu-Wenchong Shipyard in Guangzhou, China, marking the fifth delivery in its Super B-class series, which supports a $264 billion regional project cargo boom in the Middle East.
The multipurpose heavy lift vessel, designed to handle over 150,000 FRT of cargo, features three cranes combinable to 700 tonnes, two box-shaped cargo holds with adjustable pontoon decks, and capacity for 2,197 TEU or 41,500 cbm of breakbulk and dry bulk cargo.
“The Middle East market is going from strength to strength for the project sector,” said Liew Teck Liong, CFO at AAL Shipping. He noted that in 2024 alone, “a record-breaking USD264 billion worth of contracts were awarded.”
The 179.9-meter vessel joins sister ships AAL Limassol, AAL Hamburg, AAL Houston, and AAL Antwerp, all launched in 2024, with deliveries of AAL Dammam, AAL Newcastle, and AAL Mumbai expected later this year.
The vessel is part of AAL’s effort to expand its methanol-ready fleet as the company targets heavy-lift and project cargo markets while positioning for fuel-flexible operations aligned with decarbonization trends.
