Texas has given 6,751 electric vehicle rebate credits for over $16 million

In Texas, The Center Square reported that Texas’ electric vehicle rebate program has gave 6,751 rebates for $16.3 million from 2014 through August 2022.

The Texas Emissions Reduction Program offers a $2,500 rebate for buying or leasing an electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle on top of a $7,500 federal subsidy, according to the report.

The report also noted that less than 30,000 electric vehicles were registered statewide as of the end of 2019. As of 2023, Texas has 222,150 zero emission vehicles registered.

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas estimates 1 million electric vehicles will be rolling on Texas roads by 2028.
