Five US states have strong potential for biogas production, study finds

In the UK, energyportal.ue reported that Gus Simmons, the Director of Bioenergy for Cavanaugh & Associates, highlighted the growing interest in biogas projects in the southeastern United States.

He noted that the southeastern states of North Carolina, Georgia, Arkansas, Alabama, and Florida are leading in potential biogas production, adding that these states have significant livestock and agricultural industries, making them ideal for manure-derived biogas projects.

The report also noted that the total potential methane production from these five states is estimated to be 236 billion cubic feet annually. The cost of establishing ag-based biogas production facilities in the region ranges from $10 million to $75 million, the report added.
