JinkoSolar to move forward with expansion plans at its Jacksonville solar panel plant

In Florida, The Florida Times-Union reported that JinkoSolar still intends to expand its Jacksonville solar panel plant even though City Council pulled legislation for taxpayer incentives after federal agents executed a search warrant at the factory a month ago.

City Council recently voted unanimously to withdraw the legislation that would have provided up to $2.3 million in property tax rebates over 10 years to China-based Jinko, which is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of solar panels.

A company spokesperson said JinkoSolar still plans to move forward with the expansion.

“Jacksonville is home to our nearly 300,000 square foot facility, which has supported 280 local jobs for the past five years,” the spokesperson said. “We will continue with our investment of more than $50 million and create an additional 250 new jobs.”
