Mexican president makes official decree banning genetically modified corn

In Mexico, Infobae reported that President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo made the initiative banning the use of genetically modified corn official with its publication in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF).

The report noted that the Congress of the Union will have a maximum period of 180 days to harmonize the legal framework of the relevant laws to adapt them to the content of the new decree.

According to the reform decreed in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), corn cultivation throughout the country must be free of genetic modifications.
